07.05.23 Following the conditions we encountered at Southampton on Saturday and only completing nine holes, half of our green fees have been refunded by the golf club. And as we did not use the prize money, that will carry over to your next game. Therefore everyone that played is now credited with £17 for the next time they play, as can be seen on the League Table page.

01.01.23 This years A.G.M. will take place in February, the date to be confirmed. Every member will be texted when, along with reminders. Also let Sean know if you want to participate in either the Singles or Pairs Matchplay Cups so the draws can be made at our first fixture at Hurtmore on March 4th.

20.10.21 This years Presentation Night will take place at The Wheelwrights, Havant on Saturday 13th November. Full details will be here when known. Please let Sean know if you want to attend and how many places.

23.05.21 Payments for Captains Day must be made on or before 16th June (no payments on the day), as we have to pay in full the week before. Society bank details available on request.

07.04.21 Good news !!! We have had a win on the Premium Bonds. The disappointing news is that it is only £25. Never mind, you have to be in it to win it and one day it will be the big one !!! Because of the size of the win it will be kept until we can buy more Bonds.

15.03.21 At last !!!!! So long as the Governments timeline for coming out of lock down happens, with golf courses re-opening on Monday 29th March, our season this year will start with our first fixture at East Horton Parkland course on Saturday 3rd April. Of course there will still be some social distancing rules that we will have to adhere to but at least we can finally get to play golf. Full fixture details can be found on the calendar page along with the other fixtures that have already been booked for April. I will re-start the usual Sunday afternoon texts the week before, but you can let me know sooner if you want to play, along with a payment of £34 online to secure your place. Also please let me know if you want to enter either the Singles and or the Pairs Competitions this year so I can organise for the draws to be made at the first fixture.

28.05.21 Following the governments announcement of the ‘roadmap back to normality’ we are looking at the ways in which we can start our season. Golf courses remain closed until the 29th March, after which, if the first lockdown is anything to go by, will be very busy and therefore not easy to book several tee times. Already we know that some clubs have said that they will not be taking society/group bookings for the first few weeks. It can also be assumed that although courses will open, clubhouses will still be under some sort of social distancing. Therefore until we have made enquires and secured some tee times the new season is on hold. Once we have accuired some bookings I will post the details on the website and start the usual ‘Sunday texts’ to see who wants to play. Until then, stay safe, and be patience.

16.01.21 Part of the latest national lock down conditions include the closure of all golf courses and, along with tighter socializing restrictions, it can probably be predicted that the start to our new season could well be delayed. This obviously starts with our A.G.M., which under current conditions will be impossible to take place. Having said that I would hope that after ten years, there is not much to discuss and change, and it has become a welcome social evening to start the new season. Any matters that may need attention could be resolved at the first few fixtures. The main item would be the appointment of a new vice captain for this year, so volunteers, or nominees, are welcome. I will post any comments on here. Also the new handicap system has now started, and in response to that, I have put two downloads on the handicap page in order to help explain it. Last seasons Presentation Night has now been cancelled, and re booked as this years Presentation Night in November. I will give out the trophies to their winners as and when I can. March 6th would be our traditional start to the season and heres hoping that that will be possible, albeit under some probable restrictions. I will post updates here, when and as, the situation changes. Otherwise, while we wait for golf courses to re open, stay safe, and hopefully we will see each other soon.

29.11.20 Inlight of the pending Covid tier restrictions, Presentation Night has been postponed until such time that we can hold it properly. Because Hampshire moves up to tier two and ALL of Kent (because of the peasants in the medway towns) up to tier three restrictions, you are not allowed to socially mix indoors and i’m not even allowed to travel down. The numbers for Presentation Night have fallen to ten and with me, Nigel and his wife not able to come it’s down to seven. The main purpose of the evening is to present the Trophies, which are in my possession having got them engraved, so that won’t happen as well. Taking all this in to consideration the best course of action is to postpone until we can have a proper evening in the new year which hopefully will be in better times. Therefore i hope you all have a good christmas under whatever restrictions and stay safe, and i will be in contact in the new year.

01.11.20 Because of the announcement of the second lockdown, all golf courses will be closed from Thursday 5th November until Thursday 3rd December. Therefore it means our game at Hamptworth next week has been cancelled putting our season to an end for this year. Also this years Presentation Night which was on 14th November has now been moved to Saturday 5th December. Please let me have your menu choices as confirmation that you will be coming, no later than 28th November. As per usual we hope to play a Texas Scramble at Great Salterns on the day. Everything is still subject to change depending on the ongoing situation but i will keep you up to date.

05.10.20 This Years Presentation Night has been booked to take place on Saturday 14th November at The Wheelwrights, Havant. Because of the current covid-19 situation there will be some conditions. We will still occupy the function room but rather than have one large table we will be seated at tables of up to six persons. Once seated you must remain at your table where the food AND drinks will be table service. You must wear a mask to get to or leave the function room or if you visit the toilets. Because the venue has to close at ten o’clock the meal will be bought forward to 6.30pm for 7.00pm in order to give us time to eat and have our presentations. The menu will be confirmed soon along with further details. Please let Sean know if you will be attending.

21.06.20 As a result of the Society going cashless, any winnings that you may be lucky to acquire, will not be paid out to you on the day, but will be given as credit. This can be saved up, for example, for the Presentation Night meal, or taken when you next play, or at any time that you want. The amount of credit you may have can now be viewed on the League Table page.

29.05.20 Following Golf Englands announcement that as from Monday 1st June four balls will be allowed at all courses it would seem that golf is getting back to some normality. Therefore we have secured three tee times at Blacknest for Saturday 6th June. The cost is £32 + £6 prize fund, with the first tee at 11:06. Because it is still a cashless situation, payment up front will secure your place, with the option of card payments on the day if neccessary. There will still be the social distancing rules to abide by but at least fourballs makes it easier to get tee times again.
